| I have watched Gwen Fox’s work in a local Taos Gallery for years.
We had an interest in composition and color theory in common but that
was about all: I rarely even dabbled in abstracts (let alone acrylics)
and already had a name for myself with my regional pastels. When I
came across an ad for her workshop “Strong, Glorious Abstracts”, I
found myself jumping at it. What a bargain: A week of lively discussion,
painting and at the end my understanding of composition was pushed.
I gave myself permission to let go of having to “explain” as one does
in representational work and just do what felt right and good. I highly
recommend this workshop for anyone (in any genre) that is interested
in exploring an avenue that will broaden their skills as well as their

Over the past 15 years I have taken almost a class a year and
several week long workshops from Gwen. This is because of her great
talents not only as an artist, but also a teacher. She is the most
talented, creative and encouraging teacher I've had. You come away
from her classes with new skills for seeing and improving your paintings
and greater self-confidence in your own abilities as an artist. Take
any class you can from her! Gwen has been a profound influence
in my life. The power of her positive energy and her ability to bestow

taking each student at the level she was and bringing /developing

Gwen bridged the gap between my desire to be a working
artist and my belief that I am an artist because it was my heart’s
desire. She accepted me and my work as perfect for where I was today
and helped me grow from there. Her gentle acceptance and permission
for each of her students to be all they want to be as artists has greatly
