Testimonials

I have watched Gwen Fox’s work in a local Taos Gallery for years. We had an interest in composition and color theory in common but that was about all: I rarely even dabbled in abstracts (let alone acrylics) and already had a name for myself with my regional pastels. When I came across an ad for her workshop “Strong, Glorious Abstracts”, I found myself jumping at it. What a bargain: A week of lively discussion, painting and at the end my understanding of composition was pushed. I gave myself permission to let go of having to “explain” as one does in representational work and just do what felt right and good. I highly recommend this workshop for anyone (in any genre) that is interested in exploring an avenue that will broaden their skills as well as their view.

Barbara BlakeOver the past 15 years I have taken almost a class a year and several week long workshops from Gwen. This is because of her great talents not only as an artist, but also a teacher. She is the most talented, creative and encouraging teacher I've had. You come away from her classes with new skills for seeing and improving your paintings and greater self-confidence in your own abilities as an artist. Take any class you can from her!

LonniGwen, you are as warm and wonderful as the colors on your palette! Thanks for reawakening the dormant artist within and making that glorious week happen.

The perfect art & inspiration combo: Taos, mixed media, and most importantly, Gwen Fox!

Gwen has been a profound influence in my life. The power of her positive energy and her ability to bestow grace to those she meets.

Gwen is phenomenal !!!

Gwen is a master teacher. She is the dream teacher I’ve always wanted. She nurtures us as artists and humans.
Gwen Fox is an accomplished, nationally recognized artist. Her artistic success is not separate from her psyche as a loving compassionate woman. Her teaching reflects that total woman. She is a new paradigm for an artist’s ego. It is truly power though, not superiority over her students that compel us. It is empowerment that we crave and she joyously offers that to each one of us.

Gwen’s greatest strength is the courage to be venerable and honest about her process and her life. Also her ability to connect through that transparency. She also combines good technical information with great psychological, philosophical and emotional information. She is a master at encouragement along with critique. And she embodies creativity and the joy that comes from that process.

Gwen is the most generous teacher I have ever known. It is more than an art class; it is a path to self-discovery. In my language, it is discovering intuitive creativity. It is creativity that energizes and empowers the spirit.

Gwen was superbly inspirational with her talk, quotes and encouragement. She was amazingly skilled at taking each student at the level she was and bringing /developing her skills to new levels.
Gwen bridged the gap between my desire to be a working artist and my belief that I am an artist because it was my heart’s desire. She accepted me and my work as perfect for where I was today and helped me grow from there. Her gentle acceptance and permission for each of her students to be all they want to be as artists has greatly impacted me.
Gwen is TOPS. Probably one of the best in the country.

Gwen…. thanks for your enthusiasm, knowledge, examples and your willingness to share it with such joy.
