Painting of Cookie

Information about the dog on yesterdays post. Her name is Cookie. She is a 6 month old Pit Bull. She came to the shelter as a stray on January 7th 2009 without identification. Her owner did not come forward. She went into the shelters TLC program ….Twice Loved Canines. There she worked with fabulous volunteers on her basic obedience skills, manners and social skills. On January 21, 2009 she was adopted and we all hope she is happy in her new home. She is such a sweet little girl who deserves a great life !!!

Erin at the shelter told me that often times it takes Pit Bull types longer to get adopted because of their bad reputation. This reputation is caused by improper breeding, lack of socialization and owners teaching them to be mean and aggressive. In truth Pit Bulls are wonderful dogs that make great family pets. If I am not mistaken Helen Keller had a Pit Bull as her dog.
