THE STUDIO

Today I moved my furniture into my new studio. The garage doors have not been installed but plastic works just fine. Furniture in place, shelves awaiting organization…items holding their breath wondering where they will be placed. My first job was setting up the music. It now floats through the air dispensing peace to my heart.
This is my studio. This is my last studio. It may be for a day or twenty years…..but it is mine. It is filled with soul. It is filled with an infusion of creativity that screams “Welcome”. It has come to me with open arms.
Last night I painted the cold gray concrete floors with a warm transparent Terracotta stain then a layer of vibrant Tuscon Gold. They merged into joy.
I have waited a lifetime for this passage…. childhood, marriage, birth, children, divorce, sorrow, death, disappointments ( in self as well as others), caretaker, widowhood, success, sickness, transformation…..only to arrive at the gate of “myself”. How lucky can a person be?
I drink a glass of wine to the birth of who I am….I drink a glass of wine to life….I drink a glass of wine to YOU.

Congratulations Gwen!
Oh how exciting this must be to finally get into the studio of your dreams! There is not anything stopping you, now! In my mind’s eye, I can just see you there working away with the joy of your soul flowing through the application tools! Who needs much of a house when you have a studio you love?
Enjoy, enjoy, enjoy every moment of this. You deserve it!

Gwen, congratulations on your new studio. May it bring you space to breathe, dream, and create works of art — and a life — that you never imagined possible. I’m celebrating with you.

Gwen, I know this has been a long time coming and so deserving of celebration! I know this space – this artistically sacred space — will infuse and expand your work! Show us pics! See you in September!
